CALIFORNIA QUAIL $8.00 This game bird is the state bird of California. They have black throats circled in white and black plumes (males) on the top of their heads. Most of their time is spent at ground level, seeking out vegetation, seeds and nuts. It is not uncommon to see large groups, or coveys, of close to 100 of these WatchList birds.
